Food for Thought

Beings like the ones of Nowhere don't need to eat, much like how your eyes or nails or lungs don't need to eat either. They're much more closely connected parts of the Universe they hail from than the average being, sustained simply by their Universe continuing to exist. As long as this connection remains, these beings continue on living, and if it were to ever be severed, they would wilt away.

Their exchange of energy is more akin to blood flowing through organs than the process of turning oxygen into carbon dioxide and loose energy via one's lungs.

Thus, they do not eat. They technically can, if they have more or less the correct organs to intake and hold such things, but their bodies can't make use of most of what makes up typical food in any of the worlds they may visit, making eating them an overall unpleasant experience. Like, imagine if you ate a handful of dirt or something.

Some of them do like to hunt and snack though. Not on organic flora and fauna, but on other, less finely vowen bundles of the universe's lifeblood. Stray curses, these inky, froglike little bundles of magical pocket lint that gather against corners and doorsteps, are favoured prey by White Noise and Heart, for example. Less for sustenance and more for the simple fun of ambushing and crunching on them. But loose magic with nowhere to go, in large enough quantities, will mimic just about anything it can pick out from its environment, from harmless objects to dominant megafauna. Anything can be prey.

And as it is prey, it is consumed.

While these beings do not have a true Purpose, as a side gig some of them do fill the niche of being the universe's cleanup crew. They hunt down lost magic for fun and chow down, and as this magic is energy their bodies can make use of, it is absorbed by them and thus funneled back into the universe's vast pool to be recycled once more.
